The name 谷 (Gŭ) originates from the Chinese character meaning valley.
谷 (Gŭ) is a modern alternative to the traditional porcelain rice bowls that people are accustomed to seeing. The dipping forms of the bowl are inspired by the u-shaped characteristics of valley forms. Similar to the creation of valleys by erosion, the shape of this bowl was molded by the continuous friction of the hand, creating depressions where liquids are able to collect. Through the exploration of form, the design of this bowl presents a playful object that fits comfortably in the curves of the hand.
